Why AfriUX exists
An African digital innovation company built for problems that do not fit neatly into one screen, team or institution.
Where it started
AfriUX started with a simple observation: African digital services often fail not because the design is ugly, but because something breaks deeper in the system, at a specific, findable moment. That belief extends beyond individual products. Digital systems designed for Africa should not be transplanted without context or shaped at a distance. They should reflect the institutions, constraints and communities that depend on them.
Our principles
We believe trust is designed, not promised. We believe context matters more than convention. We believe failure is part of the experience, not an exception to design around.
Africa is not one user group
I started AfriUX after years of working on digital products where the interface was often treated as the problem, even when the real failure sat deeper in the service: the workflow, the handoff, the operating rule, the missing state or the institution behind it. African markets make those gaps impossible to ignore. Context changes the product. Infrastructure changes the product. Regulation changes the product. Human behaviour changes the product. AfriUX is my attempt to build the kind of company I wanted on those problems: close enough to understand the detail, senior enough to challenge the brief, and capable of carrying the thinking through into something that works.

Trust is designed. Context matters. Failure is part of the experience. Africa is not one user group.
Trust is designed
Trust is not a feeling users have by accident. It comes from clear, deliberate design decisions.
Context matters
Devices, language, connectivity and cash behaviour shape what good design looks like in each market.
Failure is part of the experience
We design for what happens when something breaks, not just when everything works.
Africa is not one user group
A rural mobile money user and an urban banking app user need different things. We design for both, deliberately.
Senior by design
AfriUX is deliberately hands-on. We are building a team that can take on larger systems without losing senior accountability. Senior people stay involved in the thinking, decisions and quality of delivery, even as the work grows more complex.
